From time to time, ACE is fortunate to have guest speakers to help us learn more about today’s key issues. Click on the links below to read what each had to say. 

 

Dale Brysonformer senior manager of the US Environmental Protection Agency, in charge of all water programs including water pollution control, water protection, safe drinking water, and wetland protection spoke at our May 2017 meeting.

Rahul Nayak, graduate of Naperville North High School and Duke University, former Fellow On-Call at NIH, and now a 3rd year medical student at Harvard Medical School, spoke with ACE members at our June 2017 meeting on the GOP plans to repeal and replace the ACA.

Cristobal Cavazos, of Immigrant Solidarity DuPage, discussed several issues that affect immigrants in DuPage County with ACE-Naperville members on July 16, 2017, including wage theft, raising the minimum wage, and ICE.

Emma Vosicky, representing Youth Outlook, spoke to us at our October 2017 meeting. She shared some insights into supporting the youth LGBTQ+ community.

Dan Coy, of American Promise, discussed the possible 28th Amendment that would overturn the Citizens United ruling and dark money in American politics at our January 2018 meeting.

Ed Yohnka, director of communications and public policy at the ACLU of Illinois, spoke to ACE members at our April 2018 meeting about the chaos in the White House, our judicial system, and how Donald Trump is a threat to our democracy.

Stephanie Schweitzer Garza, director of strategic partnerships at the Texas Civil Rights Project, Hunter Wiggins, attorney and former U.S. prosecutor, and Karen Peck, local activist, spoke to ACE members at our October 2018 meeting to update us on Immigration and the Reunification of Families at the Texas-Mexico border.

John Perryman, M.D., discussed the plausibility of Medicare for All at our November 2018 meeting.
